I received an email from one of subscribers just now and he asked me about blogging. To be honest I don’t really focus my entire efforts with blog since I’m not a big-timer. I blog for fun and just sharing what I know and things that others should know with Internet Marketing. Kanicen.com is not a source of income, so, how to make REAL MONEY with blogging is not really my expertise.

Hmmm… Now to think about it, I should explore more and find out how others claim they can really make thousands of dollars every month. It will be fun I guess… . Will update you on this…

Anyway, I know two things for sure; I used blog to have fun sharing my experiences and a place where I can communicate with my subscribers. I’m not sure whether this is wrong or not but as for me with one blog you can really make millions. I don’t believe when someone claim they make hundreds thousands of dollars with one blog. As far as I know, if someone claims such things please don’t fall for that.

I’ve been using my blog for more than 3 years now and mainly to drive traffic and increase my popularity. Yes, you can make money with your blog if you use it as your main website to sell your products and services. It’s the trend now and it’s one of the best marketing tools for business.

Hey, I might be wrong from others point of view but this is what I’ve been over the past few years. I used blog mainly to share what I know and I don’t simply post articles that not benefit others.

So, to answer the question I received from my member this is what I can think of:

1) Build a Business, Not a Blog!

The trend now is using blog as a business website. So, if you plan to run your business online then you should build a business not a blog. You can have blog as part of your marketing tool. As we all should know by now, a blog especially Wordpress can be used in various ways example: You can turn your blog to a shopping cart to accept payment and you can also turn your blog like a membership where the blog can function like many others membership script.

Not only that your efforts in promoting your business has become easier than normal website since there are tons of plugins available for blog where you can simple use it for free. Example: Plugins like Digg, Twitter, and Social Bookmarking allowing you to post your website contents automatically every time you post an article. This is amazing and save a lot time, money and efforts.

So, I believe this is one of the ways you can use blog to make real money.

Hey, as I mentioned earlier, I’m looking this from my experience so I could be wrong in some areas or probably there’s better way to put everything in a place.

2) Content Is the Key!

Before even thinking about making money you should actually consider the quality of the post (articles). Poor content will never attract readers. So, in the first place you should forget about making tons of money with blogging. What you should really focus is building your blog with useful and interesting content.

You need to make sure you are providing a resourceful blog where others can find any kind of information related to your nature of business. What you can do here as part of being resourceful is, promoting affiliate programs. Suggesting some products that relevant to your topic can be one of the ways you can at least make some money.

For example, when you’re promoting affiliate programs you can actually promote the affiliate software/tool you’re using. It’s one of the way that I believe you can use.

Tip: To make sales is not about promoting the products like crazy. What you should really consider is providing the readers with interesting content that useful for them. With that, you’re actually building a trust that you’re suggesting them a good product.

3) No List No Money!

Make sure to build list every time. Don’t ever forget that. Without list you’re nothing in online business. Make sure it’s your routine and should be part of your entire business.

You can do this by promoting or giving away free gifts from time to time. You should have a separate squeeze page that you actively advertise and promote to get people to opt-in. This is where you can build your loyal subscribers and readers.

4) SEO Optimization Is a Must!

You must optimize your blog for better search engines rankings. You might have SEO plugins but it’s not enough if the blog content are not optimize properly. Make sure to understand how SEO can help you and how to use SEO Optimization in the blog. Learn it if possible or if you think it’s too technical for you then you might have to consider hiring SEO Expert to get the job done.

Normally, blog can appear in search engines with days but it depends on the keywords and links you have in your blog. The result may not explode your blog to top search engine rankings but with proper content, efforts and patient you can be there.

5) Persistent and Focus!

Anything you do persistent and focus is a must. If you’re not persistent and focus then you won’t get the result which you’re expecting. Keep post useful content; keep yourself discipline to update your blog frequently with interesting content. Focus on the niche you’re good at, sooner or later you will get what you want.

So, these are what I can see from my point of view as a normal blogger. What most important is to understand what you really want to do and plan a proper game plan. Based on your game plan you should be able to see whether you can really make real money from blog. Honestly, you can do tons of things actually like selling your product or services, start your own affiliate programs, and promote other people’s programs, self-branding, selling ads (banner or link) and many other things.
