While the earlier leader of the social networking hill, Facebook, is measured by many to be a little bit too uncovered (carrying too many personal information), the Twitter revolution has become a way for celebrities and their fans to become far more connected than ever before. Celebrities have gone for Twitter in a way that makes the other social networking sites look slow by assessment and the effects of this are quite intriguing.
Even the politicians have been swift to see the possibilities of Twitter into their general election campaigns and of course their Tweets are relatively anodyne a policy announcement here, a publicity statement for a public appearance there. They’re not going to Tweet their deepest thoughts. Nonetheless world politicians like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Malaysia’s Minister Najib Razak and many others have got accounts. Many actors and pop stars have got accounts too, and update with varying degrees of frequency.
Stephen Fry, a comedian and UK actor is one of the most prolific and heavily followed users of Twitter who has become unofficial spokesman for the phenomenon in his native United Kingdom and posts candidly and frequently on a range of topics. Many users believe it an honour to get a straight reply from a celebrity user and it happens far more frequently than one would think. There are many other celebrities also on twitter such as Vin Diesel, Will Smith, Will Wheaton and pop stars like Britney Spears, Courtney Love, Oprah, etc also using Twitter to build their fans.
